Says a lot.

A solution for me is simplification of the system starting with all corporate assets nationalized. All debts forgiven. All starting over with PMs and free education. Reestablish the draft. Ship those fine young men and women to nations to get the resources needed.

It’s pretty interesting that this is one of the biggest complaints by the conspiracy crowd. It’s always bankers this and lenders that…

Yet not a single person is able to formulate a convincing argument as to what would be a viable alternative.

Giving "the average Joe" access to the leverage that a well considered loan offers is a benefit. It's as simple as that.

Which requires "someone" to be in a position to extend that loan.

That "someone" can be a financial institution or, on the other hand, Jimmy TwoTone the local loan shark.

I prefer the former.

Who is forced to take out a loan?

You can buy cash or rent

A loan is an option

Slaves don’t have options

You just really want to be a victim. That’s in style now.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42717143

For instance in europe starting with Gen X it was impossible to get a loan even with two people signing it with both of them a permanent working contract. The only way was to give as collateral another property. In case parents couldn't or wouldn't want to offer their own property as collateral...no loan...and you ended to rent forever.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80857626

Bullshit. I have a friend buying a house in Germany now and you are wrong.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42717143

Amazing...you know a german that actually buy a house. You know that germans statistically have one of the lowest housebownership of whole Europe.

You are as dumb as superficial.

Yup

Unfortunately the victim mentality and age old propaganda keeps people in the dark and incites jealousy, hatred and anger.

Of course lesser educated people who don’t focus on finance aren’t going to do as well as educated people who do spend time learning about finance. It’s not a grand conspiracy. It’s a matter of where people put their time and energy.

Some people here have made poor choices in their lives. Now they are hurting for money and it’s hard to feel that pressure and also blame yourself. So, it definitely is a survival technique for struggling people to find a bad guy and take inspiration from hating the bad guy. Then their whole situation makes sense. It’s not their fault. It’s the bad guys fault! All you have to do is get rid of the bad guy!

Then the mob mentality kicks in and the rest is ugly history.

As men we werent intended to be shackled by money. Whats wrong with finding somewhere you like, building your own house, and growing/raising your own food, which could also be traded for.

So then you’re a globalist that doesn’t believe in borders or ownership?

You are just going to go find random land and claim it? And magically get all the supplies to build everything you’ll need? And have a steady stream of water, food and other essentials?

You all seem to incredibly ungrateful for what the people before you have built to make our lives easier.

And before you say “easy isn’t always good” … then why are you here posting on GLP? If you practiced what you preached you wouldn’t be on the internet, you’d be out working your land

But you guys are all talk.

There will, statistically, always be a given percentage of adults in a population who don't make enough money to afford home ownership. In the US that percentage runs around 30-35%.

No judgement intended or implied. But not everyone can own a home.

Along comes the liberal US congress who decides EVERYONE should be able to buy a house. Ignoring the facts, as usual.

All kinds of legislation is passed, taxpayer funds are diverted to fund the legislation. "O downpayment" loans with little or no real income verification are all over the place.

Now you have incredible demand, a whole bunch of ineligible buyers are being "qualified" for loans.

Prices escalate by the day, the market is insane.

Insane because basic economic principles were ignored.

Housing crashed, and people acted surprised.

Yup, our friends in congress tried to create a new reality. An insupportable one.

And fools rushed in to buy houses they knew they could not afford.

Did the fools sell themselves into "slavery"? Yeah, you could say they did. But to say "it's all 'their' fault" is a bit like saying "I'm stupid, protect me from myself..."

To clarify, I do believe when you are saying “their”, you’re not talking about the borrowers, you mean the lenders.

And I agree. Not one single person was forced to do anything. People created the fomo and rush on housing. That was supply and demand. Rates were low to spur action after the recession. Of course they don’t always get it right, or even usually get it right, but not a single person is a slave to the lending system in the USA. It’s 100% voluntary and both sides are getting a benefit from it.

Why borrow what you can't afford on your own? Why do you need a 3000sqft home for 500k to live in? Did you grow up thinking your life was going to be like your parents or grandparents? Big cushy home, multiple cars? Sorry bud, but your living a life of jealously for those who lived before you. You want what they had. If you want to emulate that life, sure, take out a loan for 500k. Pay back 750k. Not everyone wants to live OUTSIDE their means. Aka, take out huge loans for large houses.

Not many people have a couple hundred thousand grand laying around.

So you want the population to be forced renters to the elite and corporations and you want to take away the number one source of generational wealth for the average person?

So the only opinion so far is that you think only super rich people and corporations should own homes.

Everyone should be a renter (even though there shouldn’t be landlords lol)
And banks are bad because they give people a chance to acquire an asset that they can pass down to their relatives… which also happens to be the majority of people’s largest asset.

Wow GLP… wow. A new low.

And not to mention you also want to take away peoples ability to leverage the equity in their home as well.

You just want people to feed corporations and wealthy landlords (even though there shouldn’t be landlords lol) and have nothing to show for it. Unless they can save up about $30,000 a year and then in 10 years they could potentially afford an average house.

How many people making an average salary with maybe a kid or 2 have $30,000 left over for savings each year?

A new low for GLP
