There will, statistically, always be a given percentage of adults in a population who don't make enough money to afford home ownership. In the US that percentage runs around 30-35%.

No judgement intended or implied. But not everyone can own a home.

Along comes the liberal US congress who decides EVERYONE should be able to buy a house. Ignoring the facts, as usual.

All kinds of legislation is passed, taxpayer funds are diverted to fund the legislation. "O downpayment" loans with little or no real income verification are all over the place.

Now you have incredible demand, a whole bunch of ineligible buyers are being "qualified" for loans.

Prices escalate by the day, the market is insane.

Insane because basic economic principles were ignored.

Housing crashed, and people acted surprised.

Yup, our friends in congress tried to create a new reality. An insupportable one.

And fools rushed in to buy houses they knew they could not afford.

Did the fools sell themselves into "slavery"? Yeah, you could say they did. But to say "it's all 'their' fault" is a bit like saying "I'm stupid, protect me from myself..."
