Quoting: wreckingcrew • smoked turkey • sous vide and seared tri-tip • homemade mashed potatoes with tons of butter, cream cheese and herbs • sweet potatoes with butter, salt and pecans • roasted green beans with garlic, rosemary and olive oil • homemade biscuits • homemade cranberry sauce • pie - both pumpkin and apple. • good wine • bourbon . "sweet potatoes with butter, salt and pecans" would be so much better than Yams with marshmallow crap. ============================================================= Noticing Miracles Is My Hobby The Bible - When you carry the Bible, Satan has a headache, when you open it, he collapses, when he sees you reading it, he loses his strength, AND when you stand on the Word of God, Satan can't hurt you! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 83050270 United States 11/23/2022 03:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Try this but you need to make it tonight; Mama Stamberg's Cranberry Relish 2 cups whole raw cranberries, washed 1 small onion 3/4 cup sour cream 1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons horseradish from a jar ("red is a bit milder than white") Grind the raw berries and onion together. ("I use an old-fashioned meat grinder," says Stamberg. "I'm sure there's a setting on the food processor that will give you a chunky grind — not a puree.") Add everything else and mix. Put in a plastic container and freeze. Early Thanksgiving morning, move it from freezer to refrigerator compartment to thaw. ("It should still have some little icy slivers left.") The relish will be thick, creamy, and shocking pink. ("OK, Pepto Bismol pink. It has a tangy taste that cuts through and perks up the turkey and gravy. Its also good on next-day turkey sandwiches, and with roast beef.") Makes 1 1/2 pints. |

Quoting: Tiger Blood Too many overdo it on the sage. none, ever for me. only butter, onions, green pepper and carrots. of course salt and pepper the turkey flavors it just fine! I make cornbread days before so it's cornbread stuffing - white Italian bread is great too, but I don't eat gluten. Also the green bean casserole with the fried onions on top and the "candied yams" made with canned yams and marshmallows on top. UGH! I cook for a living and I am not a snob I like simple food but I can't stand over cooked meat and turkey is known for it. Also undercooked beans, dried beans. I wish they would just buy a smoked turkey from Sam's and just heat the damn thing up. Some 15 years ago I was invited to thanksgiving at a friends house that was near where I was working out of state. It was the best damn turkey I ever ate. I asked how they prepared it. He told me they brine the turkey in a 5gal bucket. 2 gallons of water. 1 1/2 cup salt. Half bottle soy sauce. 1 two liter 7-up. 24 hours. Then into a oil-less turkey fryer. Internal temp 165f. I got me one of those Char-Broil brand oil-less turkey fryer.(100 bux on HSN) Been using this same brine and cooking method ever since. It's perfection. |
