Dead silence in the middle of town
Where I live is near a busy intersection and business district not far off.....

As of this time 2:50 p.m. it is almost like the world has stopped and there is absolute dead silence. I don't hear a single car nor dog, nor bird nor person....utter silence has fell upon my neighborhood. It feels like sensory deprivation in a since. There is nothing to hear. Everyone is gone. The office is closed and all the workers on the property have left.

It feels like the world has taken a last gasp and quit in my local neighborhood.

There is no sound of blaring music, nor someone's TV, nor wind whipping thru the trees....even the breeze is gone.

I have one heck of a headache. The weather is so gloomy and grey and overcast but the sound of silence is penetrating and lonely.

I know there is noise out there some where so no need to tell me that but how is the silence where you are?

Did the sound of sounds where you are suddenly just get cut off like in my neighborhood?

This makes the loud ringing in my ears magnify. I guess we are all so conditioned to a certain level of noise that when everything is shut off....it is noticed.

Just musing.

It's the day before Thanksgiving, so most people are only working a half-day. Not everything is a conspiracy.

Who said the word conspiracy? You paranoid or something?

I'm talking about silence not woo-woo stuff.

We are so conditioned to levels of noise that when the noise is shut off or turned off it is shocking to our system.

It's not some big conspiracy as your post outlined. It's the day before a holiday. People are chilling.

Relax wacko.

Your the wacko jack. You ugly person trying to ruin a conversation. Go away. There always has to be one or two sick sorry bastards that have to bring their shitty attitude into a conversation. Go walk off a cliff and shut the fuck up.

Now for the rest of you.

After the initial shock of silence doesn't it feel good to relax? You can actually feel your own body tension releasing. You can actually start to feel your own breathing and tune in to your own sensations of being. The feeling of shell shock brought on by the levels of noise starts to go down and for a brief amount of time you can feel your own body going back into its natural state instead of the artificial matrix of noise we swim in all the time.

Turning off everything smart and coming into the silence is different. You begin to notice that being droned to death by noise is really quite unpleasant.

Do you have anything to add other than snide and sarcastic remarks?

A good number of people that post here are so jaded and wasted that they have lost all manners and politeness. They have forgotten how to be soft and gentle, pleasant and encouraging, positive and kind, agreeable and happy. Most of all they have become assholes and pricks that need retraining on how to be social and congenial.

You should see out my house window.....eerie and mystical looking....kinda foggy and misty. strange feeling and looking. This isn't the usual landscape of deep south Texas.

Not a conspiracy ...just an observation. It feels like time has stood still for a moment in time so as for the humans to reboot. Should be some good sleeping time tonight.

I'm gonna go have a coffee with Coconut Cream coffee mate, sit outside on the porch and ponder on being alive and all the feelings.

Good to be in tune with your surroundings! The light here (north Missouri) was odd when I went for my afternoon walk. Overcast with sun coming through, very quiet, etherical atmosphere. My little town hardly bustles, but it almost seemed abandoned today.

It's the holiday, I'm sure.
More deplorable all the time.

I've noticed what you're discussing here a few times in the past many years. It is humbling to wonder why the silence, but then it settles, and the relaxation does satisfy the mind.

Enjoy your coffee and here's to the silence!

Wasn’t going to post in this thread. But I’ll go ahead and try and offer something in the face of a few uncivilized comments.

Thank you for bringing a thread of non politics to the table OP

I can’t say I know what is going on your end? But many have reported similar things to this.

We are seeing trends of people departing. I wonder if this is heightened in your area? Likely this will become a more common theme.

Stay well! Atb
