What would lead anyone to believe that they were extraterrestrial?

Lights in the sky have got to be one of the least interesting aspects of "The Phenomenon".

There are new ideas concerning these phenomena. The term UFO is being phased out - because it's likely these are not "objects" as we would know them. They are not necessarily space-craft, or crafted at all. It is possible they are manifestations of plasma, which draw in local matter to appear solid - and there is intelligence behind these manifestations, though not 'spacemen', or even biological entities, perhaps. Our understanding of these things is very limited.

Maybe. I'll just say that the witnesses saw them up close and reported very shiny metal. The radar operator reported that the targets were huge and very reflective. Maybe those are signs of plasma, I wouldn't know.
