Looks like we’ve got a bunch of spendthrifts here.

Why in hell would anyone pay a sum all out of proportion to what they’re getting, when they could just make something that’s probably better for themselves at home for just pennies, and take it with them? My wife and I often take day trips, and I can’t recall the last time we stopped at a burger place, a diner or café. We have a small cooler that we bought years ago for about ten bucks with those inserts that you pre-freeze. We load up sandwiches we made the night before along with cold drinks, and eat like royalty.

For longer trips we never stop at a restaurant, but go to the nearest large supermarket. The deli’s there almost always have pre-made sandwiches, or will make sandwiches for you for half the price or less that a rip-off fast food joint would charge you for a burger and fries, and many now have hot food selections AND a place to sit down and eat in the store.

I think restaurant’s future customers are going to mostly consist of people whose work takes them on the road, like salesmen, professional drivers and similar, while they average person, if they have any financial sense, will stay far away.
