Quoting: MountainHombre 72390928 They are seasonal, it is their vacation home. 90 minutes to the convenience of a 10k town (Taos) Have to pack ice cream on dry ice to get it home. I fill up with gasoline every time I’m in town. I’ve gone for several weeks without seeing anyone. I’m alone except for my dogs horse and critters. I Love it. Is that Rural enuff?? MH Yeah it is. Thats pretty out there. So is the four corners. Its where the skinwalkers live. Wish I could live there but we are pretty populated with asshole new york/jersey transplants now. A once peaceful fishing community transformed into a rich mans vacation town. Last Edited by Grognak the Ballbareian on 11/26/2022 08:32 PM |

In a lot of ways it is at the edge of civilization. Quoting: nimmerfall I miss it. Hell yeah. I tried to get my wife to move to Ridgecrest, Ca for a job. I know the town well. Must have been for NAWS/China Lake. Piercing my heart there is a golden dagger; that is God Piercing God's heart there is a golden needle; that is me |

Quoting: Grognak the Ballbareian The thing is it felt different there. Very peaceful and no strange feeling (paranoia, anxiety). Little to no people is what made it good in my opinion. Less people=less problems I have lived in a wide range of environments from isolated house in the country to a trailer park to apartments where it felt like being a sardine. My favorite is a quiet neighborhood in a small town surrounded by like minded people. Quiet but not lonely, peaceful but not isolated. Basic services like trash pickup so you don't have to drive your own trash to a dump or put it in an incinerator like in the old days, but not a bunch of city ordinances or HOA hoops. Conveniently located so you can drive to the city if you crave entertainment or into the middle of nowhere if you crave isolation. Yep. Tiny town, 20 minutes to town with Walmart. If I look out the front door, I'm in town. If I look out the back yard I'm in the country. Have no intention of ever leaving here. Hurricane alley. I'm over them. Wish I could move out of FL. |

I will not live in a town or a city ever again. I do like it when the electricity goes out. I hear it running through the wires. You either love it or hate it. Most people I know can't take it. Then there are those who can't take the city crap. That's my column... Peace! Things are bad enough, there is no need to make anything up. ~Fluffy "Never interrupt an enemy in the process of destroying himself." Quercitin and zinc...Get it. Take it. Your phone may not work though without a repeater and outside elevated antenna. I had a cellular repeaters with external antenna on my RV and when I camped at a far out rural area I would notice maybe a dozen cell phones belonging to other nearby campers would instantly through my repeater and have phone and data service. |

User ID: 82399515 United States 11/26/2022 10:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I miss you too Quarter Breed Gal, Aho! I used to live a little more rurally than I do now. I had a little off grid cabin with no running water or electricity and a composting toilet. I learned a lot..like living that off grid is a full time job, and you need a full time job to pay for conveniences if you are too tired and need a laundromat or prepared food or have to pay property taxes. Now I am in the loop, my internet is radio (not satellite) and decent speed. I get power from a local solar farm and have a well. I love reliable refrigeration and hot running water more than I care to admit. I do have a few neighbors and we are friendly..but not friends. This is literally my backyard.
