Northern Maine is crazy barren and nothing at like southern (lobster) maine. I once drove it and it was sparse. Interstates with no exits. I highly recommend the drive from Bangor to Presque Isle.

just east of Devils Tower in Wyoming is large deposit of R.E.E. i used to work on drilling rigs in eastern WY. this project has been going no where back than and looking at this website about it , looks like it will never get going and im sure Maine wont do much either because you know why

It seems strange that there'd be such large concentrations of these elements in a certain part of Pennington Mountain. It's always seemed odd to me that there were globs of elemental copper laying around everywhere in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I don't think copper exists in nature as a pure metal; it's always hidden in copper-bearing rocks, and you're lucky to get a 1% yield. But it used to be everywhere in the U.P.

Gold isn't as rare as we think it is. It's unusual to find a substantial amount of gold concentrated in any certain area, like what they found in the Klondike and in the South Fork of the American River in California. There's about an ounce in every 250 billion gallons of Atlantic Ocean water. No one's figured out a way to cost-effectively filter it out.
