Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 84605060 Iceland 12/01/2022 11:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I created and self-published my first book ever on 11-15 publishing date. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84605060 I ordered 1 copy printed for myself, so I could see what it looked like. I got it right before thanksgiving. So then the holiday kept me busy. I logged into my IngramSparks account today to order some more copies that I was going to give to friends as a Christmas Gift. This book is 14.99. It is 46 pages landscape. It is 3 poems that I wrote and I illustrated the poems. I did not market or tell anyone about it at all. Ingram Sparks 'distributes' the book at different retailers and puts it on Amazon books. Now I am curious as to how 10 random people on the internet just decided to spend 15 bucks on a complete stranger and nobody's book... when all they can see is a price, the cover and the Title ... and maybe a little blurb about the book. It has no reviews or anything like that. I was just surprised to see any sales. What print on demand company did you use? I want to publish a landscape style book also. Which one do you recommend? That is a good sign. I used IngramSpark. They support one size of landscape 11 x 8.5 I met another guy who had made a book of pictures that was landscape. He had used Barnes and Nobles. An old man who lived in his neighborhood had a hobby. He took rocks and stones home from the park and he hand painted them to look like little creatures. Then he took them back to the park and left them there. And kids would find them. They made a book about it. They showed it to me, but I don't think they had sold any. So...both IngramSpark and Barnes and Nobles will do Landscape books. I think IngramSpark retails your book to both Amazon and Barnes and Nobles, so their distribution system is supposedly better (and since mine had sales ... that might be so). |

Oh, and congratulations, OP!.... Here is the Barnes and Nobles link... [link to www.barnesandnoble.com (secure)] here is a foreign one.... [link to www.saxo.com (secure)] So when you reach the publish-date, IngramSparks catalogue must get pushed to all these places. There is one for Amazon books too, but Amazon hasn't started showing the Cover image yet. |

Many people don't have the space or desire to have paper books anymore. Regular ebooks take up no physical space beyond the memory allocated for them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 66733047 This was one of my problems...because it is landscape I have to re-engineer the whole thing for it be kindle. And then the problem is that it's a book of poems / art. I wasn't sure it was the type of book that made sense as an e-book. |

I know nothing about art and poetry, so perhaps a survey is in order, even a GLP survey. I try to get rid of as many paper books as I can as long as they're available on my hard drives. I've had a couple of semi-trailers full of paper books, and that's too much. Good luck promoting your book. If 10 strangers are interested in it, perhaps you can make a go of it. |

A select group. People that have actually written, published and SOLD a book is a similarly small group. Ten books...or one. It's a great accomplishment. I agree you will likely sell more, but my point is you already won. You are a published author |
