Its a 55 meter IMT 755 style hull offshore support vessel owned by Vroon Offshore working in the North Sea. Second that wave is nowhere close to 100 feet. 40 feet max. Eye level standing on the bridge of these is around 45 feet above sea level and at most the wave is somewhere around there if not slightly below. Yes its a big wave, and fairly extreme weather but its really not unusual to see this weather in the North Sea in winter. You could definitely expect to see it like this a few times each year. How do I know this? Because I worked for this company for around 10 years most of which was on ships identical to the one in the video, I could have even been on this one and don't remember." |

OK, that would totally suck if that's how you gotta' get any shut eye in those seas. I have no sea legs whatsoever. Cruises don't bother me but it's based upon the size of the vessel going thru' whatever level of bad weather that determines whether I stand, sit or just lie down w/ waste basket by the bed. They should all be forced to learn on small boats first. Hitting waves pretty much head on is the most punishing course to take. Approach those waves at a 30 degree offset and the ship will ride nice and smooth. You may zig zag your course a bit, but the people, equipment, hull and helm will not be punished by the pounding of taking the waves head on. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 12/02/2022 10:23 AM Justme |
