Old-fashioned cure that works: Angostura bitters (look at the ingredient list) Bitters are neutral alcohol infused with herbs, spices, fruits, roots, tree bark, and other botanicals. Common ingredients in bitters include orange peel, gentian root, cassia bark, cascarilla, and cinchona bark) Mix a few drops with NON-HFC carbonated tonic or sparkling soda water (should be zero calories.) Or drink warm mint tea with honey. Homemade chicken soup with egg noodles is another old-fashioned cure. Fresh ginger (I add it to oatmeal cooked with milk) or anything else with ginger in it. Or plain white rice with ginger and tumeric. Last Edited by NotStarvingActress on 12/04/2022 10:56 PM |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 84413712 United States 12/04/2022 11:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have bad acid reflux and heartburn. Quoting: CigarTigher I tried milk , it works, but makes me throw up afterwards:(. I can't take certain medications because I am pregnant. I've tried baking soda and water but I don't think I got the ratio right. It didn't work. Any tips? CT, Lets look at what causes acid reflux. It is not the acid in your stomach- it is the acid reaching your esophagus which is unprotected, unlike the lining of the stomach. Acid gets through the LES, lower esophageal sphincter, because it is not tight. The usual tightening of the LES is dependent on the Ph of the stomach. When the ph is low (high acid) the LES tightens. When high ph(low acid) the muscles of the LES relax. IMHO your issue is space related with the pregnancy (Congrats!). So- you need to maximize what limited space you have. A) small meals B) no gas forming food (wheat, all vegetables or beans, if you ever had lactose issues no dairy) The low Fodmaps diet is your friend . Now, between meals sip water with high PH. [link to alkalinewatermachinesource.com (secure)] Do not use this water while you eat +-2 hours It will deactivate any pepsin in the esoph. D-limonene - basically citrus peal oil. It acts as a physical barrier between the stomach and esophagus and froths up protecting the esophagus. In emergency pain- probably mylanta or whatever the dr perscribes. Physically, as much as possible, roll your shoulders back to increase space. God bless |

Found at any health food store Ironically, the reason you have heartburn is because you dont have enough stomach acid to break down and fully digest your food. Start slowly, one 100mg pill taken with a full meal per day. Do not ever take it on an empty stomach or with even a very small meal. That is also how I cured my rosacea. That's a shocker but it's the truth! |

Go read the huge number of testimonials from people who it has worked for. I take it, when needed, right before bed and as long after eating as possible. Drink at least a couple ounces of water with it and you may be surprised how well it works. The action is counter-intuitive, but it does indeed work for many people (myself included). Good luck! |

Quoting: BFD That's what works for me. Apple cider vinegar contains 5-6% acetic acid. Can you explain how the chemistry work for acid reducing acid reflux? Acid reflux is created when the valve is not closing...for lack of acids!!! In fact acid reflux if there isn't any other meccanical problem with the valve depends on infections like helicobacter pylori and lack of bile...aka the effect of fluoride and lack of good fats in diet. |

Waking up at night with acid in my ears, sinus and lungs. I can now eat and drink anything I want with zero heartburn. It's a freedom I cannot explain... Mastic Gum is all natural and it's dirt cheap. I believe it's a tree pitch from a tree that only grows around Greece. It's a real cure. The bad thing is you must stop taking any and all heartburn medication for a few days to get it out of your system first before taking Mastic Gum. I tell my friends and family to use baking soda to ease the heartburn during this transition. Good luck everyone, you don't need to suffer!!! |

User ID: 84369183 United States 12/05/2022 12:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The goal is to let that valve heal. No food within an hour of bedtime. If you feel any acid reflux starting, get up immediately and mix half a tablespoon of baking soda in a half glass of water and chug it down. This will neutralize the acid. Sit up for a little bit to allow things to settle down. Lay on your right side when you do lay beck down. This puts the leaky valve high up on the stomach and gets gravity working for you. Any time you feel acid burning, do not delay. drink some more baking soda solution. By fixing it right away, you prevent the acid from doing more damage to that valve. After about 3 week the valve will be healed and then you can go back to your normal routine, except try not to eat right before bed. No reason to try anything else. Base neutralizes acid. You will burp as the acid-base reaction will release some CO2 gas. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 12/05/2022 12:29 AM Justme |

I don't have the balls to do that, the smell of mastic is pretty pungent and I don't think I could do it lol. I don't think we're talking about the same resins. The smell of this stuff is like a mild pine needle tea. What is mastic gum? Mastic gum (Pistacia lentiscus) is a unique resin that comes from a tree grown in the Mediterranean. For centuries, the resin has been used to improve digestion, oral health, and liver health. It contains antioxidants that are said to support its therapeutic properties. Depending on your individual need, mastic gum can be chewed as gum or used in powders, tinctures, and capsules. You can also apply mastic essential oil topically to help treat certain skin conditions. A small 2010 study found that mastic gum may kill off Helicobacter pylori bacteria. Researchers found that 19 out of 52 participants successfully cleared the infection after chewing mastic gum for two weeks. Participants who took an antibiotic in addition to chewing mastic gum saw the highest success rate. H. pylori is a gut bacterium related to ulcers. It’s become antibiotic-resistant, but mastic gum is still effective. ^ Fasting for a day before taking it is the key. And to be sure all other heartburn type medications are out of your system FIRST. That is the reason this cure is not in the mainstream, no money to be made. In fact most medications for heartburn sap the body of Vit D and so does having an H-Pylori infection. It's a path towards duodenal/stomach cancer. |
