Sometimes I mix it up. I will take about ounce of apple cider vinegar instead. Some heartburn is a result of not enough acid in you stomach to process the food. Other times, it's too much acid and you need baking soda. It's always, one or the other and you learn to tell which one after awhile. Usually symptoms go away or diminish within the hour. Stay away from prescription heartburn medication. Using it, especially frequently will make the problems worse. Reflux: Too Much or Not Enough Stomach Acid? [link to brandonlagreca.com (secure)] |

Quoting: BFD That's what works for me. Apple cider vinegar contains 5-6% acetic acid. Can you explain how the chemistry work for acid reducing acid reflux? I know that it's nowhere near as acidic as HCL but for some reason it seems to work. I know that's anecdotal. I can’t explain it, either, but by God, it works. Acetic acid acts as a buffer. It prevents the pH of the vinegar/stomach acid solvent system from going too low or too high. It really doesn't help acid reflux much but it does help hyperacidity, which is a separate problem that can exacerbate reflux. Calcium carbonate is the best treatment for acute episodes of acid reflux. Tums is 99% calcium carbonate and 1% flavors and filler. It tastes chalky because it's made from chalk, so skip the middle man and eat 500 mg of powdered chalk. |

Depending on your individual need, mastic gum can be chewed as gum or used in powders, tinctures, and capsules. Baby is squeezing your stomach, no diet changes will stop it. Not sure if you have an issue with antacids, but I ate them like nobody's business when I was in a family way. Results were always instantaneous and they were very effective. If you can't take tums for whatever reason, I'm sorry. They really help! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82780204 That makes since. Heartburn has been getting worse and I'm 28 weeks. Thank you for your input! I was thinking about diet change. It gets bad after 7-8 months. Eat very light meals, lots of water, sleep with head elevated. Sorry you are suffering, it will be over soon! Do NOT eat before bed. Try to eat before you take a walk or do something where you will be standing or walking for a while, after eating. Small meals. Digestive enzymes might help. |

Pepcid AC is perfectly safe to take during pregnancy. I've tried baking soda and water but I don't think I got the ratio right. It didn't work. Any tips? The only remedy that really wotrks is homemade yogurt made from organic full fat milk. I suffered from heartburn acid reflux for nearly 20 years , been on all sorts of meds, and NOTHING worked! Ok, some meds reduced the discomfort temporarily, that's all. So, I found out by pure chance that homemade yogurt is the answer. You need best milk you can afford, and half a cup white natural organic yougurt to add to is. Boil the milk, but only till bubbles start appear and skin forms on the top. (Before boiling milk add a little water so it wont burn.) After it is boiled, put it aside for about 20 minutes to cool down a little, and then pour it into a plastic bawl that has cover. Add the yogurt. Mix it well with a spoon. Put cover on top and wrap the bowl in a towel and place it in a warm place, in a room that is not cold. I leave mine overnight. By the morning you will have thick creamy and decious yogurt. Keep in in the fridge, and eat a bowl every day, best time is at bed-time. Also, try to drink at least 5 glasses of water a day as that will help with heartburn too. |

[youtube] [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] However I suggest you water down the apple cider vinegar with six oz water, swallow it down, then rinse. The acid is not good for your teeth even if it is good for your eating. You can take poison pharma's but that is not the solution. I took anti-acids for years; not anymore, not for years and years, and I'm a very old man. And I ain't perfect now, but I do do things like cleanses and fasting, digestive pills if I do get acid reflux (like maybe twice a year now), and ACV now and then. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 15766710 United States 12/05/2022 01:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I will give you a list of all the things that trigger it Onions Garlic Caffeine, coffee, green or black tea Alcohol Dairy and milk products Chocolate Wheat/gluten/oats/rye/barley Lentils Cashews Baking powder Phosphoric acid, citric acid, ascorbic acid ingredients (usually in fruity or sugary drinks/mixes) Bananas and strawberries, and also watermelon - depends on if you eat these fruits on top of other foods in your stomach. Food combining done wrong can really enrage the acid in your gut. Orange juice can also have this effect. This is why I only consume most fruit on an empty stomach. Apple and lemon and lime are the exceptions. There is also acid rebound that you get when you take Calcium carbonate chewable antacids like Tums. What happens is the Tums will reduce your stomach acid, and your stomach will respond by producing extra. There are other foods that can cause acid problems, but basically you just have to completely change what you're taking in. There's a good chance your body doesn't like what you're putting in your stomach, and it doesn't want to digest it, this will cause it to create more and more acid. Get some DGL tablets and also some nux vomica pellets from Hylands. You can find both of these on Amazon for not much money. The chewables will coat your stomach and protect it from the acid, and the pellets will balance out your system and stop the problem pretty quickly. Another stopgap measure is to put just the smallest amount of baking soda in a little bit of water and combine, take sips of this until your stomach comes down. Also make sure that you sip on water frequently. Oh, another offender is things like pasta sauces. It would really help if you happen to know your blood type, because then you can look up the blood type diet list online and see what foods you should definitely be avoiding. Also, as recommended, look up food combining rules. Try to find an elimination diet and also the low AGE diet, these 2 should help. I've been dealing with this for a very long time myself and have finally found ways to manage it well. Whatever you do, avoid taking those acid reducer medications, they just mess everything up. |

This is due to the metabolic and chemical processes which take place to break down and digest ACV.😉 |

What is Rajasic Food? Rajasic foods are the ones that have a stimulating effect on the mind and body. They stimulate motivation and create desires. According to Ayurveda, it is believed that people who can't stay still or are always moving are more drawn to Rajasic food. This restlessness happens because either they are stuck in the past or think too much about the future. Rajasic Food Effect on the body They stimulate aggression, passion, fire, imbalance of emotion, energy, alter the consciousness, and create depression. Example of Rajasic Foods Fish, eggs, and chicken, all whole pulses and dals (not sprouted), hot spices like chilies and pepper, salt, brinjal (eggplant), onion, garlic, radish, tea, coffee, aerated drinks, and chocolate, etc. It contains more oil and spices compared to satvik food. SUGGESTED INTAKE- Rajasic foods should not be consumed daily, they should be taken occasionally. TASTE-Rajasic foods are bitter, sour, salty, pungent, hot and dry. These foods don’t harm you but they don’t benefit you either. What Is Tamasic Food? Tamasic foods give us the desire to stop, slow down, and rest. They put you in a phase where you want to do a particular task but something sucks your energy and you no more feel like doing it. For instance- You are willing to wake up early in the morning but you don’t because laziness hits. According to Ayurveda, it is believed that Tamasic food slows down mind functionality. An individual consuming Tamasic food is likely to be lazy. This generates emotions like insecurity, jealousy and will regularly have mood swings. A Tamasic person loses calmness and may have longer sleeping cycles than usual. Tamasic Food Effect on the body Tamasic foods have a dulling effect on the mind, lower our resistance to disease, cloud the mind, and promote negative emotions. They block the flow of energy and produce harmful toxins. SUGGESTED INTAKE- If you wish to stay light, these foods should be limited. Example of Tamasic foods Fast food, fried foods, frozen and canned foods, microwaved foods, processed foods, stale food, alcohol, drugs, chemicals, mushrooms, margarine, red meat, beef, sausages, bacon, and ham. These foods are considered to be highly harmful to the body, mind, and soul. Emotions/Feelings associated with Rajasic and Tamasic foods In addition to the information provided above, here are emotions that get stimulated on consuming Rajasic and Tamasic food. Clearly, Tamasic food should be kept minimum in the diet. What is the Sattvic diet and which foods come under it? Sattva is the third guna which means 'essence'. Sattva is the attribute of goodness, purity, balance, harmony, positivity, radiance, serenity, and peace. Sattvic diet (also called yoga diet) is the one based on 'ahimsa'. Sattvic food keeps your soul clean and the body healthy. EXAMPLES OF SATTVIC FOOD Fresh fruits Fresh vegetables Nuts and seeds Sprouts Butter Coconut oil Olive oil Sesame oil Ghee TLDR : Your diet sucks. Stop eating Tamasic foods. |
