Highly misleading headline.
SCOTUS merely said the officer can't be charged under the computer crimes law, that doing so would open the door to all kinds of abuses like people being charged with a crime for checking their personal email on their work computer.
SCOTUS has prevented yet another expansion of federal power.
An eminently sensible ruling, the headline notwithstanding.
