Unlike Henry Ford's time Ford will charge the lemmings as much as they think the lemmings will pay.

Of that $100k price I bet $60k is gross profit.

That's why they only offered limited volumes and then cancelled the Maverick (despite it selling out).

Why make $5k per truck, when you can make $25k on a typical F-150 or $50 on larger loaded units.

Ford has huge liabilities.
They WANT you to think its normal to then justify more stimulus so that they can buy their own stock and pocket more money and keep their debt load under control.

To illustrate the data we’re going to look at in a moment, I “built” a 2023 model year F-250 Lariat on Ford’s website: MSRP $104,070. I could build something more expensive in the F-350 lineup. Ford suggested to finance it with Ford Credit. With a down payment of $10,407, and a term of five years, at 5% APR, I would end up with a monthly payment of $1,768. Screenshot from Ford’s website:

Re: $1,768 a Month, with $10,407 Down, 5% APR, on a Ford Pickup?
When my parents bought a house in Palm Bach County in 1984 it cost $50k

My dad was a mailman and we could barely afford that.

He made around $45- $50k a year if I remember correctly.

That payment was about $500 month and we almost went into foreclosure.

I dont know how the hell people are doing because salaries havent gone up that much..
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79157073

Your dad made $50k a year and a $500/month mortgage almost led to foreclosure? Less than half of one weeks paycheck a month was too much?

WHAT? You didn't almost go into foreclosure because of the price of the house, it was the price of pops alcohol, cocaine, and hooker habit.

Just kidding, of course, you must have had a lot of siblings.

I bought a 1988 Ford E 350 van with who really knows how many miles for $1600 5 years ago and I'm still driving it.

Spent about $1200 on parts and used tires.

$2800 ÷ 60 months = $47/month

Oh. And a $30 can of white Rustoleum to make it look pretty.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74428314

Now factor in the cost of gas on that HOG. I had a 1987 E 250 van and that thing got about 13 mpg on a good day. There's a reason that van came with dual gas tanks, lol.

What type of work is that truck going to due to earn it's keep?

That's insanity to pay that much for a 3/4 ton pickup when a used medium duty truck can haul more for a lot less.
