Not only that, but if the truck don't have a few little nips and scrapes, bumps and scratches, who would dream of piling the kids in, and hacking down fallen logs like my grandfather did to get us into the 3rd crossing of mckinnie creek way up in the woods where we always camped and there were no bridges, just ex loggers who knew what to do?

I like dodge rams, old ones, fixed up. I would never buy a new vehicle from anyone even if I won a super lottery of 100 million dollars. Just because....!!!!

I like Dodge Rams too, well, except for the rust that's eating the fenders by the time the truck is 5 or 6 years old.

No matter what you drive, if you drive it on roads that have been salted and don't wash the bottom of it frequently, it will rot somewhere.

I remember growing up north of Watertown, there were two kinds of vehicles, those that were in various stages of rust decay, and those that soon would be.

Generally they lasted two years and on the third year you noticed the rust.

I bought a 1988 Ford E 350 van with who really knows how many miles for $1600 5 years ago and I'm still driving it.

Spent about $1200 on parts and used tires.

$2800 ÷ 60 months = $47/month

Oh. And a $30 can of white Rustoleum to make it look pretty.

Just think of this. It must cost Ford about 10k in parts to build that truck and they charge you 100k for it.

I buy this for 15K, I spend 10K putting in an engine and transmission, if needed. Maybe 5K additional work. I'm 30K in cash. I drive it for 100-150K, save my cash, and do it all over again in three or four years.

However, our local welfare ranchers. These third generation Dutton wannabes get incentives to raise substandard beef, fuck up good farmland, and lease a POS 120K brand new Ford every two years. Rag it out, lather rinse repeat, and get their USDA welfare check for not growing food.

Same with certain sod farms in Northeast Oklahoma. I know one that thinks he's King Shit and he's nothing but a glorified welfare hoochy. He takes up 5K acres of great farmland where people could be growing vegetables, fruits, and nuts to grow shitty grass for suburbanite shitholes.

But, it's a free market, right? I mean, he only gets 200-250K a year from the USDA in the form of subsidy checks to grow that fucking sod.

What type of work is that truck going to due to earn it's keep?

That's insanity to pay that much for a 3/4 ton pickup when a used medium duty truck can haul more for a lot less.

To illustrate the data we’re going to look at in a moment, I “built” a 2023 model year F-250 Lariat on Ford’s website: MSRP $104,070. I could build something more expensive in the F-350 lineup. Ford suggested to finance it with Ford Credit. With a down payment of $10,407, and a term of five years, at 5% APR, I would end up with a monthly payment of $1,768. Screenshot from Ford’s website:

I'm not sure that frequent washes are good either. How do you wash the bottom? By spraying spraying upwards of around 30-45 degrees. Push all of that salt into crevices where it can stew out of sight.

Nevermind the automatic car washes that use the recycled pit water for undercarriage washes.

How?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74428314

Find what you're good at, find a way to make that of value to whoever would value it and do that. Give a shit about what you do and give great customer service or quality. If you don't want to do physical labor or make one off items find something you can get make in quantities and sell those. Or find something you can make once and sell many of. That's my schtick, images with print on demand. Then diversify an investment portfolio and invest aggressively. Once you have 3-4 million invested you can plop a bunch in a DRIP income investment.. like QYLD for example (there's several). It's like $17 a share but pays 17¢ per share per month. 4 million in that is 50K a month income for essentially life. Covered call ETFs are amazing. Monthly compounding interest that you can DRIP.

Once you have a chunk in something, start letting the money work for you. Even if you put into low yield investments... like 2 million at 5% gives 100K a year income... if you drip that for a decade it's now 150K a year.

The thing about naysayers is this, they're usually incorrect. They think they're the smartest in the room. They're easy to spot and they all are the same.

And to the person making more than me, that's freakin AWESOME. Good for you!
