Couple of stiff over-night frosts here just north of Watford.

In England, heavy snow tends to fall at temperatures of about zero. When it gets real cold snow tends to be very small, light and blown away.

It's the first bit of black ice that catches out the idiots which causes problems, then when it freezes after heavy snow, when people start getting scared. Snow concentrates peoples' minds here in the UK (for the three days it usually lasts.)
