Anonymous Coward User ID: 1606709 12/06/2022 07:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Air fryers are the biggest scam since powdered water. I returned mine after one use. You’re either for lard or a tard. got a combo microwave with air fryer and oven feature and it works well, but i mostly use the microwave function...the air fryer makes good fries and toasty sammiches though. it's nice not taking up extra space for another appliance. |

I use the cornmeal fish coating Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83988080 Fried okra with cornmeal as the breading is delicious Of course fried chicken is a win Any kind of potatoes Tempura shrimp and veggies Do you use beer in your fish and chips recipe? I don't I don't like the thick batter. It seems to take longer to cook the batter correctly and then that overcooks the fish. I like to use the cornmeal mix kind |

I read somewhere that omitting egg in the fish batter recipe makes a lighter, thinner batter. Apparently egg makes the batter heavier and cakier. |

I used my electric deep fryer for a Turkey, fries, fish, then never again because the oil was a pain in the ass to dispose of (still have it years later, might use it in my chainsaw). Oil too expensive, messy to clean and store or dispose of. I got a ninja foodi combo air fry, indoor grill, flat griddle thingie and am planning to donate the oil fryer this week. Who does your thinking? |

I agree about the messy clean up. But I purchased a deep fryer that automatically filters out the food debris. Basically it’s got a valve that drains the oil into a separate container at the bottom while keeping the food bits separate. Used it twice so far and very happy with results. Air Fryers are decent at best but don’t replicate the same taste and texture imho. |

I’m hoping the unit will hold up over time. A proper deep fryer heats the oil to a sufficiently hot temperature that keeps the food from being greasy. People so far have commented how light and non-greasy the food turns out. |

Just saw an Asian one where she added a small amount of vinegar at the end to make bubbles to make the batter airy, pretty cool. I also love homaid french fries. I like to cut super tiny french fries, make sure to dry off really well, then fry in batches, then when done refry them all together at the end to make them extra crispy. Asian cooking double fries lots of things, especially chicken, to make crispier. It's kind of cool, because you can fry in batches, and then at the end do a quick fry so everything is hot all at once. |

Also, I save all my soda cups with lids and then put the old grease in those, and put in plastic grocery bag and tie really tight, works really well. I use a small pot to cook in as I'm usually just making for one or two, so that works well for me instead of big fryer. Last Edited by Keilani on 12/06/2022 08:21 PM |
