When traveling in a foreign country you have to be on your best behavior and contraband or illegal activity will land you in jail.

I know 2 coworkers both who broke blatant laws while in China and Singapore.

One guy was supposed to observe the Quarantine rules after arriving in Singapore during covid and was caught that ended up with a large fine, attorney fees and 30 days in prison there.

The other guy was cheap... and bought a package of pellets for his kids air gun while in China and was caught with it in his checked bag leaving Guangzhou.

Last I heard he was was not allowed to leave China till his court date, over a year ago.
