Odd how we only hit the debt ceiling, (or make not of anything at all about the national debt), during Democratic administrations after it shoots up massively during previous Republican administration.

Four years of Trump's reckless spending is the cause of all the inflation
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79673421

The POTUS and Executive Branch does not legislate federal budget spending.

The House of Congress enacts federal budget spending which is approved by the Senate and then approved or vetoed by POTUS.

A budgetary deficit or a surplus budget has nothing to do with the national debt.

There is no balanced budget law.

The national debt will never be paid off or paid down. It isn't intended to be paid off or paid down. It is fiat funny money that is only as real as people believe it has value.

Debt: $34,000,000,000,000.00 (close-enough)

Owed: $113,333.33 (per individual)

I'd gladly pay to get out of the system with an amendment for balanced budget and no more then 25% social, 40% military, 25% infrastructure, 10% misc. split locked into that amendment going forward.

"Congress raises US federal debt limit to USD 31.4 trillion"

31 trillion is catastrophic, but the 173 trillion of unfunded liabilities has NO plausible recovery.

That is not 50 years down the road, it is NOW with the retirement of the baby boom and every penny of the trust fund has been "loaned" out.

Happens all the time.

No big deal because the more the economy grows the larger amount of debt can be taken on.

Like rich people have a higher credit limit than poor people.

you have to spend money to make MAGA and achieve all this winning. he can spend even more to do the draining of the swamp and locking hillary up when he wins 2024.

its going to be even more wonderful. i cant wait for more winning.

Are people really this ignorant? In 1933 our national debt was $22 billion but FDR wanted to be free of gold backing our currency (debt) so he detached the dollar from gold.

If you assume a rate of debt expansion by 8.5% a year, we would have a total debt of $22B(1+0.085)^(2022-1933) = $31,310 billion or $31.3 trillion which is about what it is.

This means that our total debt doubles every 8.5 years

(1+0.085)^8.5 = 2

I think it's brilliant that the US decided to cap the price of Russian oil at $60 a barrel. That's only three $20 gold coins.

If they make good on their promise, the price of gold will drop like a rock in no time at all, and the reset will fix everything.

The simple fact is thats its the end of the road for the USA
It had its chance to dominate the world, create a global empire
Insted you decided to make a few people very rich
Greed has been your downfall

Within 10 years, after the economic chaos, another country will emerge

Its just how things go on this planet
