I'd have taken a bullet for him. Quoting: Obi Won I hadn't seen him as much as I should have once Covid hit (as I moved 80 plus miles away) and everything got shut down. I'm not looking for any sympathy, but thanks for the thoughts. I'm punishing myself as I never got to say goodbye one last time. Not having closure sucks. I didn't get to tell him how much he meant to me over the course of nearly half our lifetimes. His name was Jimmy and if you could find it in your heart to say a prayer for him I would really, really appreciate it. Autopsy said he died of cardiomyopathy (an enlarged heart)...Go figure. :-( Sorry for your loss! Too many stories like this these days (mine included). Within the surreal depths of "reality" lies the truth. |

You will get past that part in a couple of months. Then is when your real heartache begins. You will wish he was there so you could chat and talk about things. But, as with everything, this too shall pass. Good thoughts about your buddy will help, but never give up those memories. God bless, friend. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29706669 Thank you. Your words are comforting. |

Think about the place your friend was the most happy. I go to that place and absorb all that positive energy of your loved one. Meditate and feel their presence. The higher frequency energy is powerful. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 84777263 United States 12/09/2022 07:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is hard to lose your best friend ... but be thankful that you had a best friend, many people don't. A few years ago my best friend, a guy who got me into big water sailing, drowned while sailing. We had just shared a pizza and beer together the night before he left town to go to his boat and were scheduled to have dinner, the night after he drowned, near his marina. It was a total shock, I got the call and had to call his family. Every time I transit that water near where he drowned, even if just by riding on one of the ferries that go through the area, I pour a bottle of beer into the water since I know he is thirsty for one, being on the other side. Treasure your memories!! Be glad for the good times. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78701318 12/09/2022 07:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Friends are certainly tough ... sharp, powerful bouts of pain. Not too long lasting, but strong. I had to get outside for some air after his ceremony. Felt like I was starved for oxygen. Fierce sorrow. Wait till your mom passes ... it's a completely different deep type of wail/moan. A sorrow that pervades even the soul. This kind of loss, I can tell, will never leave. The only thing that helps is knowing she is in Christ .. I will see her again. God Bless Brother, may the Holy Spirit comfort your heart |

Take care of yourself don't drink sorrows away. May your friend Rest with the Lord. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80336227 Thank you for your kind words. I quit drinking altogether, but tonight I'm making an exception. I'm having 2 beers. One for Jimmy, and one for myself. I'm saddened to share in your loss. R.I.P. I also recently lost my boyhood neighbor and friend named Jimmy Goodfellow. He actually had a Philadelphia Eagles tattoo on his arm! He was a kickass rock n' roll drummer to boot. Brainclot stroke at 64 (his parents both lived to 92 yrs.!). I'm still shook up a little as I'm the same age. Unlike me, I believe he was 'fully vaxxed and boosted'. Only 40 years old when he died in January, 2018. He had a bright future. Was a lawyer, a politician, and a mortician (family owned two funeral homes.) So sad. The first time I met him, they were baking marijuana brownies in my kitchen. lol (in their 30's) Last Edited by nutmeg on 12/09/2022 08:14 PM |

I lost my best friend of over 30 years during COVID (suicide... he couldn't stand the depression that the isolation for months on end). Two years later...the whole in my heart is just as big as the day he passed. So many regrets, so much pain. God bless you. In the end you will meet again. |
