So I'm on the famous Pine Island in lee country, cat, house and chicken sitting. It's a 6 week job. This part of the Island did not flood, it got wind damage, but many newer trailers survived. The older ones were blown out by wind.

If you're wondering it's basically just piles of junk waiting to be picked up everywhere. Massive amounts of trees gone and wind prunned, but a lot of it was dead wood in wild forest areas. Pine Island is a Tree nursery so it should recover quickly.

This is what I hope to do as a "senior" for "retirement" . Rather than own condos and trailers, I'll house sit. I may try do a house/pet sit over seas.
I'm looking for about 6 regular clients, each that wants about a one month to 6 week sit.

Next is unloading the rest of what I own. One by one the bucket list gets kicked.

For those wondering, it's very easy to keep chickens. The thing is, I'm totally burnt out on eggs. Right now I'm surviving on the Mexican taco truck on the island, which is delicious and better than a lot of the restaurants.

I paid for a years membership since I know Trinity will pay it forward.

Good to see you made it, and a selfish question...

Is the Pine Island Pool Open?

Things are back to normal where I am, but I still have not made the drive to check on the pool yet.

I want to go check on it, but I've seen enough destruction already, so I didn't make the drive even though I am just a few minutes away.

It is interesting how the Island and Matlache were just begging to get popular and now it's time to start all over.
I want to say that sucks, but it's probably good. The entire area is much to populated for me these days.

Happy House Sitting!

The Pool opens New years day.

I'm in a state of isolation bliss. I didn't leave the Island for over 20 days until after the 25. There is one quarter of the usual amount of people here, so it is unbelievably quiet. I haven't slept this well night after night that I can remember. I slept right through the Rooster crowing this morning.

It's time fo me to get far out of the city.

 Quoting: Feathery

i had friends who had 30 acres on Pine Island.

used to go over all the time from ft laud.

haven't spoken to them in years i hope they did alright but their place was right on the bay so i have my doubts.

driving through matlache was like going back in time.

loved the BBQ joint on the island that served fried green tomatoes.

the gate to their property was a stones throw from the little post office.

so sad.

Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living. ~

Life is about choices, you get to make them each and every day of your life. ~

Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.~

Only in America... do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poloi' in Greek meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.~

“When a government is dependent for money upon the bankers, they and not the government leaders control the nation. This is because the hand that gives is above the hand that takes. Financiers are without patriotism and without decency.”
