Thanks, when I was a kid I watched all the shuttle entries fly over the gulf States, awesome stuff. Sonic booms and all.
This was before the accident and they diverted re entry away from land.

12:20 p.m.

I know it will not be visible from the eastern United States. It's coming around the Earth from below the South Pole and re-entering over the South Pacific. It will do a skip re-entry go back up for a little bit and then re-enter again over the Pacific close to San Diego.

If Dr. Astro was in charge of NASA, we'd be headed home from Mars already.

So lunch time tomorrow. Thanks for the reply. Usually these things happen in the middle of the night...so it will land in the Pacific Ocean and get picked up by a boat crew? Or no?

Correct. This is actually why the trajectory is designed to fly under the earth and loop around the other side so that it re-enters in daylight even though it's approaching the night side of Earth.

I thought it was zombies contained in barrels from the US military that leaked. (Biological warfare gone wrong).

And it was the 70’s-80’s, not ‘68?
