You shall know them by their fruit.
He's bragging about factory farms, this idea he's pitching to us sounds like he wants to create the same conditions for humans on EArth. I don't trust you op
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78443089 Imagine if a young manager from Google came to help a load of impoverished Hobbits on an island somewhere in the North of Scotland.
How would that work out? Could be awesome, could be average, could be a nightmare.
Your concerns are very valid. But OP has shown himself to be humble and flexible. He also listens and asks questions. So let's keep talking.
IMO, if the software:
- Doesn't use too many corporate APIs, or any at all.
- Stays in the browser, without too much info-logging.
- If logging is able to be disabled.
- Is open source, scalable and fragmentable (you can detach and decouple from their grid at any point). And you get full autonomy regarding what grid you attach to.
- Is focused on the free flow of money instead of info.
The project becomes much safer for EArth. Open source is good, because you can take the code you want, and discard the rest. You can peer review the code. It also costs zero server money to host the repo.
There is a Gold medal available here for all of us. They know their systems are far from perfect. OP has acknowledged this this, and has solicited ideas a lot, which is a really good sign.
If we can brainstorm something which is better than the software they are currently using, the more progressive ones will end up adopting it, and EArth will end up affecting their Destiny and Future.
This has already happened, to an extent.

That's The Dream...
Fix Creation
from Here.
But there are many, many spikes and traps to negotiate on the way, to be sure.
So...
OP seems to understand Our Caution.
Let's keep talking...
There's no reason why the expertise on EArth couldn't affect them positively. Be neither naive nor pessimistic, and take it step by step.
