Quoting: Anonymous Coward 82409006 Thread: The last pole shift took just 50 years and brought the Ice Age Something is screwed up. I saw robins the other day. We are just starting winter here. Robins always come in spring! Something screwed up somewhere. We’ve had lots of robins here, north of Denver, for almost a week now. I’m hoping they all head to CA before this cold snap. All the snow geese are here on the lakes and in the fields. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79621148 United States 12/19/2022 02:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why do people act like they've never experienced winter every year? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30404241 It isn't that so much as they get fatigued I imagine and timing is everything and also money to pay the cowboys to go out and round all the cattle up and then a matter of where to house/shelter them that far out on the range. The heart of all ranchers and cowboys is to protect their animals at all cost but sometimes it is just hard especially now with the economy struggling and money hard to get and costs of everything up so high. We need an intervention....from GOD. Please don't forget in your Christmas prayers of thanks to thank GOD for all the cowboys that manage your protein/meat so it can survive. Without cattle and cowboys people are going to be really hungry like they have never known here in the US. You can't thank them enough for the hard work they do to preserve your food supply to continue. P.S. I have no affiliation/no employee with any rancher/cowboy/owner or any advertiser. I am just a person paying attention/reading and listening. Truck Drivers too. These people make it all happen.. Mechanics, Electricians, Plumbers, and two handfuls of other “salt of the earth types”. Without them, life wouldn’t be worth living. I’m here to insult, and cause mayhem mostly on this website, but to these people, I honor and respect! Without ranchers and farmers, we wouldn’t exist at all!! |

Quoting: Frozen Cleveland 75696877 One wonders if they are going to freeze their asses off up there. Would you leave Florida to go live in Cleveland??? Maybe they had a job offer? Cleveland itself isn't so great, but personally I love the rural Midwest lifestyle in the rest of Ohio. Low taxes, low crime, good carry laws, mostly white. Reminds me of suburban and rural American from the 50s-70s. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 84821150 United States 12/19/2022 04:28 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's already damn cold here in Minnesota, an hour south of Minneapolis. We went from temps around 34°F during the day and 28°F overnight last week to -6°F outside right now at 3 AM. Just went out to feed my (previously feral) outside cats and they seem oblivious to the cold. They do have heating pads and heating panels in their cat boxes, but it only stays about 40°F to 45°F above outside temps in there. The heating pads do warm up to 108°F and they seem very comfortable laying upon those in their box. I'm expending about 950 watts an hour keeping two habitat boxes warm for them. There's a mama cat with 4 newborns which are a few weeks old out there too. I may bring them inside during this below zero weather. |

The same is true for most of the folks who have to work outside during any weather. |

Surely they have learned from the past recent winters that those winters are getting more severe. Their cattle are worth more than gold not just to them but to all the people that depend on the protein. Pray for the ranchers/cowboys/owners to have wisdom to act early and not let their cattle freeze on the hoof out on the range. Better protein options than cattle tard .. |

There are no tards here on this thread. Just because your palette can't appreciate beef doesn't make it any less valuable. You are quite selfish to think that your opinion is superior to the millions that would disagree with you. Okay Summer.....go back to your vegan diet. I'll have another steak please. |

Winter lived in a hut at the edge of the forest, She salted snowballs in a birch tub, She made yarn, she wove canvases, Forged ice bridges over rivers. The ceiling is icy, the door is creaky, Behind the rough wall, the darkness is prickly, as you step over the threshold, frost everywhere, And the steam from the windows is blue-blue. She went hunting, gave silver a faceted shape, Planted a thin month in a crystal bucket, She sewed fur coats for trees, paved the way for the sleigh , And then she hurried to the forest to rest in the hut. |
