My dad recently retired as duty Director of homeland security. Prior to his DHS career, he spent 30 years in the Air Force, was a squadron commander, retired as a colonel, then worked at the Pentagon as a civilian in anti-narcotics for several years and then spent the last decade of his career as duty Director of homeland security. Before he retired from DHS, he told me that Washington DC is the most disgusting and corrupt place he has ever worked and he couldn’t wait to get out of there.
