They are the survivors of the flood which washed away Atlantis 12k years ago. Egypt was a nearby fertile area and easy to support their reborn civilization. Many suspect Atlantis was destroyed by vengeful Gods (Martians) for the destruction of planet Krypton (now the asteroid belt).

They were stranded on a foreign planet, made the best of it, even created similar structures to their homeworld including pyramids. Super small survivor pool so not able to successfully reproduce. Some breed with humans to survive as half-breeds, it was the only way to create offspring that would have a chance at survival on this diseased planet. They would become the bloodline of Pharaohs that existed until they put a woman in charge (Cleopatra) that was banging every Roman soldier in town. That was the end of their story.
