Colombia rejects US call for supplying Kyiv with weapons

Colombian President Gustavo Petro confirmed that the country had rejected the US suggestion of transferring Russian-made military weapons to Ukraine.

While mentioning the poor technical condition of that military equipment at the moment, Petro admits, that it is not the main reason for his unwillingness to send weapons to Ukraine.

"We are not taking anyone’s side. We are on the side of peace. That is why not a single piece of Russian equipment on our territory, regardless of its technical condition, will be used in this conflict," - Gustavo Petro concludes.

The U.S. does not give up on its attempts to push Latin American countries to transfer military equipment to Ukraine and is willing to "replace [Russian-made military equipment] with US equipment, if those countries want to donate it to Ukraine."
