this could be a massive drug ring w LE involved... First AT doesn't accept anything, she is the chief public defender and gets assigned to cases. Her dropping x mother just means that, she dropped that case, and I guarantee she has dropped all other cases too as she works for the state and it would be usual practice for her to just solely work on bk case so he can get a fair trial, considering the magnitude of it. Only way it would be a conflict of interest would be if she dropped c kernodle to represent bk against c kernodle personally. Looking at the case, it does not appear bk lawyer even met with c kernodle anyway, just normal documents filed before new public defender picked up case. Regardless, it would never be a conflict of interest just because c kernodle is x mom, they are 2 different people. I'll add if AT got off of c kernodles case it is because more than her is involved in her case. So someone else was arrested before her and that person is a Co defendant with kernodle, the same attorney can't represent them both, so she will stay with the first client assigned because she can't drop the first client to represent the 2nd client against the first. She is the only public defender that is qualified for murder trials in her district
