You'll laugh when I tell you I just gave up my 1972
Toyota Tersel--bless her heart (her name was "Elizabeth")
--she gave up the ghost in the parking lot of my local
mechanic! As I just happened to be driving past and
she started to make the most disgusting noises...I thought
she was going to blow up. He declined to work on her the
last visit I made for a tune-up--said the metal in the
wheels was actually distorting (flattening, I think he said!)
from the age. I kept the body pretty good shape for a 50 year old car
--amazing that the original engine was still working. Donated Elizabeth right there to a guy who
restores older cars--didn't charge him anything.

Anyways--not driving these days due to vision changes from
a mild stroke.

By the way! You mentioned to me if I needed a favor I
could ask you for an upgrade. Just gave away 12 upgrades
in our caption contest last weekend (we had 4 sponsors plus
my own karma points.) Good contest...but my Star fell off
yesterday and just found out I need to take my 2 new
Christmas kittens to the vet this weekend. Every penny counts
this month with THAT kind of expense ("tutoring" and shots
are spendy for sure!) So...could you shoot me a "gold star"
and I'll upgrade you on your next turn-around? That would
be so great! I would PM you but can't do that without my
star! (Thanks if you can--otherwise just delete this, ok?)

GMC Envoy is still going strong. Bought it used 5 years ago and never had any issues except the entire muffler system is gone. Other than that it still works great. It has 275,000 kilometers on it. I never even changed the oil on the damned thing. You cannot kill these cars. They are built like a friken tank. I'm adding acetone to the gas now tomhelp increase the milage. Getting about 26 miles to the gallon on average sometimes more depending and how heavy I am on the gas pedal. The gas gage doesn't work but I always fill it when I pass a gas station. The back door needs fixen. No real big issues. Brakes are good and the engine runs like a top. No rattles and no tapping. Smooth as silk.

BTW this is an SUV. A big one at that. And its a 2003. This particular model cost over 40 grand even back then when they were new. I know this because I saw the original sales slip in the glove box.

OC is a legend here. Although I've only upgraded 36 members this year, I've only just begun. My time is limited here as I have incurable cancer and nobody knows the date of my final demise.

Well, it standardized diagnostics, which sorely needed to be done instead of having a separate scan tool for every make of car. I had a few scan tools that had all the pre OBD2 connectors and it was a mess.

We drive a 2005 Chevy Tahoe with over 170,000 miles. It eats gas, but otherwise it still drives great! Besides it's paid for!
