In a survey done in the UK it was found a majority percentage of younger people could not divide this number, and gave the answer as 225.

I can tell you that something is incredibly damaged in the brains of younger people if you can't do a simple division problem in your head. That one is so easy I just can't grasp most people are that inept.

Were any of you taught math visualization? See the problem in your head, visualize it. Then divide the 500 first. East peasy, that's 250. then divide the 50. 25 x 2

Answer is 275, but most people say 225. I can't believe that. That is really scary.

See the numbers as money, and more often that not it will improve the chances someone will get the right answer.
