I’ve seen video of that. They were doing that to Russian speaking civilians in the Donetsk areas early in the conflict. Look up YouTube videos by Patrick Lancaster. He’s been on the ground in that area since the shooting started.

That's the American approach. Blow stuff up. Divide and Conquer. I don't know specifically the military strategy but it's clearly not the American Clausewitz playbook. What I can tell you about is that Russia takes this very seriously, it's a calculated move. It's not emotional. They feel backed into a corner by NATO.

I don't see Russia winning. But it looks as though the conflict will be a constant drain as she is held in a war that she cannot win and that will drain her of resources.
