The US has a lot of equipment, outside of Europe. The military's of NATO other than the US in Europe mostly had old equipment, and very small standing armies at the beginning of the "special military operation. Significant amounts of that European NATO equipment that existed prior to the operation has been destroyed, and Russia has held on to their tier one troops, equipment and munitions without facing any real threat from the West. Soon, at a moment of their choosing, they can roll as far West as they would like, pretty much all the way to the Atlantic with nothing other than harsh words and 1960s era nuclear tech. The vast majority of US military power and resources are not inside continental Europe, and amount to the only conventional force that could actually slow the Russians down, and nothing has been done to put anything meaningful in position before the coming offensive.
