Indiana is installing boxes in which newborns can be anonymously surrendered, usually at a fire station. Baby boxes have seen a surge in use, and more are planned as Indiana moves to ban abortions.

As more states pass abortion bans, another option for those who give birth after an unwanted pregnancy is growing. Built into the side of fire stations or hospitals, baby boxes allow infants to be surrendered anonymously. From member station WFYI, Jill Sheridan reports on how Indiana leads the baby box effort...

1) abortion

2) neglectful parents who treat children like unwanted burdens

3) a place to get them to a safer place where they can have have the things they need and be adopted by families who would love to have them.




I'll take the third option.

I know during the depression some babies were dropped off when parents couldn't feed the kids at well off neighbors homes. But this is evil not much surprises me anymore.

They harvest them for organs

These are only something to complain about if you enjoy reading about 3am dumpster babies.

There's also the option of abortion but that's not popular around here either

I dont see anything wrong with these boxes.

Better than throwing them is dumpsters or rivers which is what they did before these abandonment boxes.

You want women to give them up for adoption if they don't want to or can't raise the child. This is a safe way to do so. Otherwise we'd have dead babies in dumpsters. So make your choice: reinstate abortion or provide safe ways for mothers to give up their babies.

perfect concept , box is heated ,soft and certainly connected to desk when need empty . I wonder how many babies per hour?

I hope the women doing this consult with the father first or family. What would happen if a father did this without the moms permission?I want all babies to be safe and loved.

those babies are NOT WANTED...and as much as we hurt to hear that, this is not as cruel, its quite humane.

I expect they'll have about as much effect at stopping abortions as they've had in stopping murder.

We have a couple of the baby boxes here in my area. They have saved some babies lives.

or provide safe ways for babies to be given up. I hope we're killing the fathers who don't want the babies as well.
