I think you would have to take a step back and examine the totality of the shift. What I mean is if we are experiencing a pole shift now, then when did it start?

We have no way of knowing when the last shift started "if" it was a long term event.

It could be barely noticeable right now and at a certain point be happening at accelerated speeds and then when we think it is over, perhaps it is not completely over ... maybe just slowing down before the cycle is complete.

Slow movement to the tipping point, then bang, then slow again to stabilize.

I'd say a complete cycle would take 40 years or less, but I believe the catastrophic portion of the cycle may indeed happen in a week or less.

I believe that with our ability to fight forest fires with modern day techniques the fires would be minimal compared to the past events.

Scientists tell us that the earth's crust move slowly over thousands of years, modern catastrophist say it can happen in a day or days.
Which is right? or are they both right a little?

I believe that we can find flaws in both, and some truth in both.
Let's take a look at some of the theories, Hapgood, Thomas, Randal Carlson, Ben Davidson, Dr. Laviolette, and Gram Hancock have some great theories

Then I started looking at the Mississippi river watershed (1.83 million square miles) [link to www.bing.com (secure)] and did some math, it would take over 607.5 trillion cubic feet of water just to cover it in 1 foot of water.
multiply that x 5280' twice for a 2 mile high tsunami. Thats more water than I can even imagine, and coming a 1000 miles per hour? If that had happened 12000 years ago it would wipe every bit of topsoil away and cover the land in salt.
Nobody could grow food for years. Thats is why I think it would need to happen in decades at least people could move with the changing conditions.

Radal Carlson says that ripples in the sand were caused by massive waves, yet we see that as sand flows in and out with the tides a ripple effect is caused and are caused by wind in the Sahara.
