I was camping in a State Park in Ca newr Half Moon Bay in a redwood forest with no other campers in the park one time. It had just rained so was a crisp day. I went on a 10 mile hike and one area heard what sounded like bird whistle but made by a man. First thought was ‘ deliverance’ and wondered who the hunters were? Then heard it again and mimicked it. Bad idea. The whole forest froze silent. The hair on my neck stood straight up. This area the sound came from is a bramble thicket I watched a buck deer stomp through and it was loud af. All of a sudden the bird sound went from way up this ridge to 2 feet in front of me inside this tangled inpenetrable bramble thorn bush. I looked but could see zero. Felt like doom came over me and felt the need to run. Got away from that area and had a good rest of the hike with no issues. This was 2005 or so? Went berzerk researching on the internet and found all sorts of bird mimic reports from Sasquatch. First nations will say dont reply. I have been obsessed ever since!
