I just watched Pearl Harbor for the first time....
About a half hour into the attack scene I had to stop the movie and google to see if the movie was depicting the truth, or if it was exaggerated.

Gladly I read that it was highly fictionalized....whew

Of course that doesn't mean it wasn't horrible, but wow, whoever made this movie really threw down heavy with the many battle scenes.

But as old as GLP is, I'm wondering if anyone remembers anyone posting about being there....anyone?

Old Timer might remember it happening. I'm thinking he would've been a teenager.

But it really was a big block buster LOOSH producing movie. I mean, I was getting all tore up, until I went a'googling....but still, awful.

But the greatest take away from watching it?....we never learn, do we?

Wars solve nothing, and they only serve to feed the "beast". If they did offer a permanent solution, there wouldn't be one going on right now, actually two....we have both physical and spiritual wars happening as I type.

Hella movie, though I read it kinda flopped. Quite the roller coaster ride, for sure. I had to rein myself in, lol.

Heh, they're always going for our loosh....charlie

Re: I just watched Pearl Harbor for the first time....
I had to deliver a crate to the home of a local Pearl Harbor vet here. Dr. Charles Merdinger, at the time commanding the 16" guns of the USS Nevada. Sat in hos living room and he told me his experience. I will not bother in detail as he relates the exact story to Charlie Rose, easily found on YT.
Take away. No time for anyone to be a hero, react or even think. The Nevada was hit broadside by 4 torpedoes and capsized attempting to beach. He was trapped inside for the duration. When he emerged he said the world was on fire and the very first thing that struck him was how well the Japanese performed their mission.

9/11 was orchestrated by neocons to allow for massive military buildup and permanent us presence in the Middle East. Pearl Harbor was orchestrated by protoneocons to facilitate US entry into a European conflict. Both were done to destroy Christianity and allow satanists to take over which they have done.

There's no way in hell the Japanese fleet can sail undetected across the ocean though. The US knew they were coming and let it happen.

I searched for the interview. A search of the Charlie Rose channel said no matching content....oh, but I found this interview. Four shorter interviews.

Wow, what a man and a life, a Rhodes Scholar AND a survivor of Pearl Harbor....glassesoff

I just heard that he's 92 years old. He's really sharp for that age. Remarkable.

I've only just started the first one, but I'm going to post all four of them. I think I'm going to find he's lived a fascinating life--

I was unfortunate enough to see this movie in the theater. 1 1/2 hours of a love triangle before the attack. The Pearl Harbor part was good and the Dolittle raid was fine, but love story build up was not what I was expecting from the trailers. I was very disappointed.

That’s a conspiracy theory? You do know what site you’re on, correct?

And no, it’s not a “conspiracy” theory. I heard many, many years ago that a radar operator somewhere that got wind of what was happening, but was told to say nothing. Quite possible. Very feasible.

Honestly, it had me emotional. Seeing war happening is unpleasant, eh?

All those dead bodies floating may have been actors, but they were acting out deaths that occurred that day.

The attack killed 2,403 U.S. personnel, including 68 civilians, and destroyed or damaged 19 U.S. Navy ships, including 8 battleships.

I've had past life memories of sword fighting in the Celt war....it was f'n bloody, and disgusting. I never liked those memories, and they were thankfully only fleeting. Heh, those memories are not something that can be unseen though.

I do not like war. It is purely destructive.

There is no good end to war.

Saw it when it came out. I thought it was goofy as all hell. Seemed to try too hard to jam in Chick Flick appeals and contemporaneous wokisms into an action war movie. Sprinkle with typical Hollyweird historical inaccuracies and you have that steaming pile of cinematic crap.

No. The Japanese did NOT start withdrawing after the Doolittle Raid.

No. FDR never made some grand show of his physical impairments to make some point.

Anyone seriously think they’d have someone who can barely verbally communicate as a fighter pilot back then? (Now, sure. He could even be president.)

Fact is, the USA was on a collision course with Imperial Japan, was already attacking German U-Boats, sending “volunteers” and weapons to Kuomintang China, etc., etc., etc. All of which provokes a sense of deja vu.

Then there was the USS Panay incident in 1937. There’s the first clue. No one should ever have been surprised.
