Re: Last Night's Supposed Falcon Heavy "Booster Landing"
This video was shot last night at the latest Falcon Heavy launch during the twin booster landing.
How many here believe these landings are fake...
 Quoting: Astromut

It's all pretty basic Newtonian Second Law of Physics. All the sensors accelerometers and gyro's required are those found in every modern Cell Phone, plus a couple "waffle iron" winglets, an array of tiny powerful retro-rockets, some trick timings.

Probably the hardest and riskiest thing of all is the very final (brief) main rocket motor, light and burn. These motors are binary, they are either off, or running close to their 100% rating... There is absolutely no turning down the wick, it's: "go or no-go".

There must be a lot of eye-balls watching, telemetry being recorded and much computer model replay when it goes wrong.

It's only really impressive, just because yet another science fiction has become science fact, suddenly in front of our eyes - which will soon to be (noisy) old hat as most everything around us.

I agree, it's exactly as fake as the ISS. Which is to say, not at all.

Totally fake. But the public laps it up and wags their tail. The older I get, the more astonished I am at the gullibility of the rank and file tax slaves.

And Dr. Astro is fake too, I suppose?

Do you think anything is real?
 Quoting: Buck Fiden

Yes, that is the next question, isn't it? Do these people also believe that independent observers like myself are faking our footage? The percentage of people who believe these landings are fake on GLP seems to have gone up slightly in the last 5+ years.

May not be statistically significant, but my previous poll in 2017 had only 22% of people saying it was fake. Now about 30% are saying fake with another 9% not sure. I honestly thought people had given up believing in this one, anyone can come see these landings happening in person for themselves, and there's a ton of independent footage of it happening now, even from launch to landing in one shot. This just further illustrates to me how people will continue to believe in a false claim even when it's easily falsifiable, even with a growing body of evidence showing it's false. I have offered to fly people out here to witness this, I have offered to let them control my scope to track the thing landing, no one has accepted my offers. The truth does not matter.

As a side note, these findings suggest the efforts YouTube has made in the last 5 years to suppress conspiracy theories on their platform has done nothing at all to suppress conspiracy theory belief. If anything, it's just made the community more insulated and allowed it to fester unseen. Not that they care either.

Several people and civilizations before Germans

In 1920, Professor Robert Goddard of Clark University published proposed improvements to rocket technology in A Method of Reaching Extreme Altitudes.[17] In 1923, Hermann Oberth (1894–1989) published Die Rakete zu den Planetenräumen (The Rocket into Planetary Space). Modern rockets originated in 1926 when Goddard attached a supersonic (de Laval) nozzle to a high pressure combustion chamber. These nozzles turn the hot gas from the combustion chamber into a cooler, hypersonic, highly directed jet of gas, more than doubling the thrust and raising the engine efficiency from 2% to 64%.[17] His use of liquid propellants instead of gunpowder greatly lowered the weight and increased the effectiveness of rockets.

The rockets are not binary, they can throttle between 30 and 100% thrust.

Re: Last Night's Supposed Falcon Heavy "Booster Landing"
Wasn't this the original German idea for rockets?? Before they decided to crash them as bombs?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79812367

The original idea for rocket propulsions was created by a Russian - Mr. Tsiolkovsky. Or perhaps even further back to the Chinese.
If any foreign minister begins to defend to the death a "peace conference," you can be sure his government has already placed its orders for new battleships and aeroplanes.

Given that I film these things myself, you must think I'm faking my own footage. Why do you even call me out on asteroid threads then? What's your deal?
