The pole shift stalled and reversed slightly a couple months ago, but based upon its current position and using several mainstream sources (NASA, Wikipedia, NPR article) all agree on a drift of the North Pole towards Siberia ( the 40 degree mark) at 34 miles per year.
At this rate 34 divided by 12 months = a drift of 2.83 miles per month.
13.4 miles to the 40 degree mark divided by 2.83 leaves just a little over 4 months to find out what happens. This of course assumes the conservative estimate of 34 miles per year. The Pole drift speeds exponentially as it approaches the 40 degree mark - this is also admitted from all of these conservative sources. The pole was drifting at 10 miles a year in the 80s and now is 34 miles a year as it gets closer, so 4 months might not be an accurate calculation, it might be sooner than this when we hit 40 degrees and find out.
