One voice that comes to mind, again, to me anyway is this guy.... I only listened to a bit, but he seems a voice of sanity worth listening to.  He, Chris Hedges, had a "cozy" job at one point as a war correspondent for the New York Times, he got fired there because he wouldn't sell out. After he made a speech against the war in Irak where they shut down his mic after three minutes or so and he was booed off the stage. That was many years ago. He's been at it for many, many years, he kind of comes from the (old) left but those terms, as he would probably tell you, are meaningless now and he attacks the Democrats as hard, often even harder, as he attacks the Republicans (more meaningless terms really)...
