It looks like he was putting the kid in there maybe to pretend with the child it was a spaceship or something, not realizing the washer or dryer turns on automatically once the door is closed. I didn't see him push any buttons to purposefully start the machine after closing the door. He held the child properly and gently while putting it inside and then freaked out and tried to get the door to open and the machine to stop just like the woman did after it started spinning. The guy was an idiot, but I don't think it was intentional in this case.

Agreed. That’s what almost certainly happen, as you can see from the man and woman’s body language that they were alarmed when it stated moving. They freaked out and tried pulling on the door, and in their panic forgot or didn’t know about the stop button on top, that has to be hit before the door will open.

Of course, the racists here won’t accept that, preferring to think the worst and reinforcing their prejudices.
