And if (as has been mentioned) the Norwegian deal has to do with Insurance....you can bet anywhere that uses ferry systems (like where i live) will be soon to follow because the insurers will DEMAND it. WTF are the Mainland HA's going to do to get to Angel Acres outside of Nanaimo, or their massive property holdings in Powell River? Fly their bikes over? Rent barges? Meh. Soulless fake humans are already AI. They get triggered by particular words, symbols etc. They can't really bother about the meaning. They just look for the trigger words. GenX doesn't have the money as we're spending on college for our kids. Millennials don't even know how to ride a bike with a full body suit and Generation Z will still be living in my basement “I’m the wall that progress ran into" |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 85114253 United Kingdom 01/22/2023 06:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I can’t think of a worse example of a corporate CEO misreading his customer base than this via the Robb Report... Quoting: StellaBlue There are literally millions of HD motorcycles out there, anyone who wants a thumping, dirty great out-of-date motorcycle has got one or can easily buy one from a Boomer who are now too old to handle such heavy machines. The days of huge, far too heavy motorcycles are over. Younger people do not want such stupidly heavy bikes that are so expensive to repair and so easily damaged. I am speaking as a 63 year old who has ridden motorcycles the whole of my life. I still own a Yamaha FJR 1300. Our generation went on buying ever more bigger, powerful, faster, heavier, more expensive, motorcycles with shiny easily damaged trim that is expensive to replace. The motorcycles often requiring two people to move them backwards when off flat smooth surfaces. Big expensive touring bikes days are numbered, and HD full well understand this. Big heavy motorcycles became madness - I admit this to myself... Anyone want to swap a nice Yamaha FJR 1300 for something smaller. Reason for selling - I got old and am no longer able to manage it. Condition: immaculate, only ridden during summer months, reluctant sale! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79127556 Ireland 01/22/2023 06:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Any large bike manufacturer making this decision is gonna go bust fast... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 57594442 That said, the days are numbered for them all imo. The world is heading towards all electric and at some point driverless and motorcycles will ultimately be banned sadly, just a matter of time.... I hate that thought btw... It's impossible to go all electric. It's impossible to go 50% electric. The grid can't handle it. At 0.41% electric vehicles in California it is causing them to ration power. The charging infrastructure isn't there. The amount of cobalt and other rare earth minerals aren't available. It's a pipe dream. It's about controlling you if you can ride or not with social credit system. Electric vehicles can be remotely disabled. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 85142038 United States 01/22/2023 06:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That CEO didn't just decide one day "electric = good" All CEOs get gaslighted by Government to do what they want them to do and they comply, then they get tax breaks etc... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79420395 This! Although I think they get even more than that.. basically those organizations are almost 100% guaranteed to survive and stay afloat no matter what, and of course the CEO, CFO get RICHLY rewarded but it isn't on the books so to speak. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 85114253 United Kingdom 01/22/2023 06:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is exactly why HD have made this decision. Just how many people in future is going to buy one, starting at $15,000 up to $45,000, when second hand examples, with low mileage in perfect condition can be bought for a third of the price of a new one. Bikes and bikers are a dying breed, a thing of the past, a shrinking market awash with products. This is sad, but true, and I'm a life-long biker. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 85137072 01/22/2023 06:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | And I thought Hardlys couldn't get any worse? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76063880 I mean how can you ruin a turd? Well, guess they found a way How Harley Davidsons are made. Harley Davidsons Only a man that knows motors can ride one without breaking down… all the wannabes break down cause they don’t truly know a motor… I grew up on two my dad had 57 pan head and 67. Beautiful bikes. All black and chrome always with leather side satchels… as a Navy man sometimes he didn’t have a vehicle only his bikes. He never broke down on the side of the highway, never once did we have engine problems. It’s a great engine but it needs a great mechanic to keep her happy as well… sadly like all the great men that used to ride them, they too will slowly die off, one by one will meet their fate… the new ones are crap anyways… |

I just don't give a fuck User ID: 60052792 United States 01/22/2023 06:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | billy badass only likes his bike because it shacks his balls. They're going to need to put some type of vibrator if they go all electric. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85100651 Lucky for billy badass the likes of you are around to fill the void. Billy that you? Don't get mad go out and vibrate on your harley until the angers goes away. Nah, it ain't me. With that being said, I've seen this shit coming for years. I'll be OK with watching HD go out with a whimper trying to sell the electric bikes. All the old guys who rode them as a way of life are almost gone. HD showed their hand years ago when they came out with the V-Rods(water cooled). Do they catch on fire all by themselves and burn up the way that the electric cars do? "I have come to the conclusion that all news should be treated like 9/11, assume it is a psyop with actors participating in a staged event complete with props, until proven otherwise, in which case assume whatever is being recorded, reported, televised, is distortions/lying by omission/outright lies, until proven otherwise." - Anonymous, 4-13-12 |
