I had the pleasure of getting to see him in concert obviously many years ago.

His true passion was gospel and it comes through when you hear him do one.

He said he would never sing another song he didn’t want to sing. He sang it passionately and beautifully. It I believe was a tribute to Martin Luther King who had been recently assassinated?

I’ve loved him since I was preteen. I picked up the book Elvis and me and was just naturally drawn to him. He came from being poor to taking over the world with his talent

Yes, it was a tribute song but he sprung it on producers of the tv show and his manager at the last moment as they had already told him he should not sing it.

People say he put so much passion into this performance (it was live) that he collapsed backstage after.

Personally as I listen to the lyrics I think of it as being his prayer because at the end he talks about having a question and it becomes a plea, he's asking God for peace.

I like to watch "reaction" videos of younger people discovering an older artist for the first time. The ones where they first discover what Elvis was all about are awesome. These kids actually get emotional. Fun stuff to watch.

Have you heard In the Ghetto? That is another of his important songs during the racial battles of that time and is so incredibly powerful.

Yep....Tupelo Mississippi....probably the poorest town in America at the time and he lived in the poorest neighborhood.

How can you not love Elvis? I was born in 72 but I really dig him. So much soul and raw sensuality. His Christmas album is the best!
