Looks to me like it has chewed in to her Lip and is drinking her blood.
Rather than being natures dentist.
Rats will usually go for the soft tissue first Tongue/Eye Balls etc.
It was likely eating her Lip to get to the Tongue and drinking the blood.Hence what looks like the Rat making small lapping movement.
Why wouldn't you intervene ?.
