couple of points to mention about uk laws, cat are property and they have a right to roam, which is not a right that dogs have.

leading a cat astray is illegal, either by feeding or by taking that cat.

so, in the uk if a cat enters someone else's property they have the right to be there and if someone else's dog attacks that cat on their own property that is criminal damage.

Re: My neighbour keeps trapping my cat indoors at night.. what would you do?
my cats sleep more at night than i do and look out the window during the day and like to go outside in the screened in area when it's sunny outside. they sometimes pester me to go to bed and sometimes give up and sleep at my feet if i don't go to bed.

nocturnal statement is an old saying.

Re: My neighbour keeps trapping my cat indoors at night.. what would you do?
I had a big fat rescue tabbie he was the bollox. He weighed 9.5kgs and was the feline Don of Brixton Hill.

He went in to all the neighbours houses and charmed them and got fed everyone loved him.

In the end I had to get a coin engraved for his collar which said: Please don’t feed me in on a special diet!!

It was the vets idea and we put him on special low calorie (James Wellbeloved) food. It worked a treat he lost weight and the neighbours as far as I know appeared to stop feeding him.

where i live in the usa, cats are not supposed to free roam. it's a neighborhood covenant/rule though which ond can be fined for.

Obviously, your cat wants to be there. Cats know when someone is close to death, maybe it wants to comfort her.

no that's not the law here and my cat wants to be outside.

i don't think it's right to restrict a pet animal into misery even if it becomes used to it.

if my cat wants to out it can. i don't want it to see me as its enemy.

Glad I don't live in the UK, cats can be a real nuisance,
including damaging property, spreading disease with their feces, noisy at night, and potentially can cause injury to humans with claws and a potential for rabies.

Re: My neighbour keeps trapping my cat indoors at night.. what would you do?
The neighbour will think they are helping by taking them in overnight. May suspect a stray or something.

Benefit of the doubt. Pop round and ask them kindly not to keep them inside overnight if you have a catflap or something and ask if there's any specific treats they're providing so you can adjust their daily intake?

Just knock on with compassion for your cat and ask them to assist and adapt themselves. They won't realise the concern they're causing by trying to help. Promise!

Re: My neighbour keeps trapping my cat indoors at night.. what would you do?
Sounds like some laws need to be changed over there. You should not be able to allow your pets to roam about bringing harm and injury to other people!
Do you know how many people are allergic to cats?
How many people are having to live on steroids due to asthma attacks from YOUR cat?
How many hospital/Dr. Bills?
Do you even care?
How many people have had their personal property damaged by your cat?
Again, do you even care?
I hope that every person who lives within your cats roaming area sues your ass for damages - especially the ones who are having to take those horrendous steroids that deminishes their quality of life every time you allow your cat to trespass on their property. They should sue your ass not only for their medical bills, but also for the harm to their livelihoods.

YOUR pet, YOUR responsibility.
