I couldn't really see how the sling was attached but I'm guessing it was threaded through a D-ring type set up. Cop had gloves on and was flooded with adrenaline. Plus he was providing cover in a hot situation. Taking that sling off would have been difficult to say the least.

Those cops have enough pockets now days with tactical cargo pants to carry a TQ. Should have had one.
