Direct TV is still around? I thought they went out of business in the early 2010's when streaming services became big.

No still around
I say burn all of your bridges while you still have control of the flame.
We are like flies crawling across the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel: We cannot see what angels and gods lie underneath the threshold of our perceptions. We do not live in reality; we live in our paradigms, our habituated perceptions, our illusions; the illusions we share through culture we call reality, but the true historical reality of our condition is invisible to us.”

I get about $100 worth of mail from them a year, begging me to sign up...It helps get the kindling going for the fireplace...

Re: Time to Drop Direct TV
These satellite TV providers are all living on borrowed time anyway. I don’t see how their business model can be sustained for much longer.

That said: Streaming has become a giant pain in the ass. They’re all playing bait and switch games trying to get customers to sign up for streaming platform, then moving the show back to the non-streamed network or vice versa. It’s getting exhausting.

Maybe someone will reinvent cable someday…or a hybrid of cable and streaming. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a service where everything is in one spot for one monthly price. Cut the cord was the way to go until they all started jacking up prices and jockeying shows around.

It’s infuriating!

Direct TV and Dish always pissed me off.

You would sign up for a year's service at some reasonable rate. then on the 13th month they would add $100 more a month to the bill. Then you had to challenge them and open negotiations to get a reasonable rate again.

What sort of retard thought that rewarding your repeat customers with a massive rate hike was a good idea? Treat your repeat customers worse than a new customer?

I feel your pain. Unfortunately, the cable providers all started using those tactics as well. Charter and Spectrum seemed to be the worst. I had to hang up on them multiple times to get my billing straightened out. Ridiculous!

I dropped them all about 4 years ago.

Between Roku and Over the air reception, I have all the TV I care to waste my time watching.

If there is something you need to add, it is only a few dollars a month for a targetted service like Hulu or whatever.

I wanted to support your comments when this thread started, but I was banned in the last collective ban-out of us lowly ACs.

Today, I did cancel my Direct tv service I have had since it started.

I did it because last year they took away the truth-news and now they want to kill the rest of it. When they cancelled Newsmax, they became the whole biden and crooked tv agenda globbed together like a massive cow pie.

I told them so.

So goodbye Dogshit tv.

bump I did too. They have censored all conservative TV news. GTFO-bb Newsmax was the only TV channel to carry the TRUMP rallies.

drop satellite, drop cable, stop watching the nightly news.

Majority of people only watch so much TV because they are paying $200+/month to be programmed.

AT&T lost their corporate cell phone provider status to us the very next day.

Re: Time to Drop Direct TV
I have DirecTV, and it's gott'n way too expensive. If you find a channel you like, you have to pay for a dozen other crap channels to get it. The only reason I keep it is that I use it also in my RV. It's more portable than anything out there in remote areas.
