And other rape victims might abuse their rapists child and even commit suicide. So that's why the option needs to be there. People need to get off their high horse.

All humans have murderers and rapists in their gene pool.

This is part of an article from my local paper from 15 years ago. I will post the rest in sections, but will leave out sections with anything that can identify me. It won't be the full article, but I will keep pertinent parts.

Part 1

Every time I see the scars on my belly, I know that my daughter lives.

My youngest daughter, who turned 13 Feb. 16, almost didn't get to grace the world with her presence.

My pregnancy with her was horrid. At the end of June 1994, I was rushed to the emergency room at the Hospital because of bleeding. The doctors, after running tests, concluded that I was three to four months pregnant with an ectopic pregnancy, and that the tube was going to burst anytime, killing me and my baby.

I was told there was no hope for her survival, and none for me if they didn't do the surgery. I went into panic mode and called everyone I could to pray for us. I was so out of it, emotionally, I was ready to die with her.

Part 2

Just as the nurse came in to prep me for the surgery, a priest came in to baptize her and anoint me. I was ready to tell them to let us die in peace, but when the priest came in, I felt so calm and just let the whole thing play out.

In the operating room, just before they put me out, the doctor told me he was going to do a scope instead of a full incision, and do a window on the tube to save it so I could possibly have another child. I only had one tube and ovary, as I had the other one removed many years before because of a cyst.

When I woke up from the surgery on that Friday morning, the doctor told me they could not do a scope, even though they tried, because my abdomen was literally packed with scar tissue from previous surgeries.

They had to cut me all the way from the pubic bone to just past my navel.

The surgeon did do a window on the tube, but they couldn't find my baby.

Part 3

The tests showed I was still pregnant, but they could not locate her through ultrasound and X-ray until Monday morning. That morning, after the umpteenth ultrasound, there she was, right in my womb in her sack, where she was supposed to be. Only God knows where she was through the surgery and all the tests to find her for three days.

The surgeon did the small cuts for the scope, but ended up splitting my belly like a melon to remove all the constricting scar tissue so my womb could expand.

In addition to the small incisions, I had an enormous one to boot, but this wasn't the end of it.

As my belly grew with the pregnancy, the incisions/scars did, too. I was miserable, as my growing belly pulled on the scars all throughout the pregnancy. My doctor told me I had to make it through at least Dec. 12 to have my baby survive.

We know that babies in the womb have souls.

John the Baptist leapt in his mother's womb when Mary entered the room to see her cousin Elizabeth.

And that's the point anti abortion people won't look at. A fetus early on isn't a baby.

Part 4

The morning of Feb. 16, 1995, I awoke swollen from head to toe. I had many problems during my pregnancy, but not swelling.

I was rushed to the ER again. They monitored me, ran some tests and concluded that I was not in labor yet and everything looked OK. They told me to get ready to go home, as they were discharging me.

No sooner did they walk out of the room my labor started at two minutes apart. My vitals crashed, and I was slipping away.

The doctor rushed in with a portable X-ray machine. The X-ray showed my daughter coming out feet first -- a breech birth. They rushed me into surgery and did an emergency c-section, cutting me through the previous incision from the surgery months before.

The doctor told me he could save my baby, but I wasn't doing well. I found out later that I nearly died.

After the surgery, I was given a 50/50 chance of survival, but my daughter was perfectly fine.


In conclusion, as I am not printing the rest of the article for copy-write and privacy sake, my daughter is now 27, is a Senior Financial Analyst for a Fortune 500 company, and is getting married in May.

It is a human from the instant of conception, before implantation, before birth.

maybe being human is not enough to warrant protection, to some.

A human fetus obviously. But not a baby yet.

You and your daughter serve as proof that miracles do happen. Thank GOD you both survived and thank you for sharing your story.

As Beeches posted, for medical reasons they can deliver the baby early.
The doctor told me I had to hang on until at least December 12th, and he would guarantee me a healthy baby. I made it to full term on February 16th.
My doctor did tell me later,that I only had a 10% chance of making it through the emergency c-section, as I was literally dying. I knew I was, as a former EMT. My thoughts were to save my child. I told the doctor as they were starting to put me under, to please save my child, and don't worry about me.
I give God all the glory !
