There may be more to this story than we see. It looks like Dad is already reaching for his gun before they come around the wall into his field of vision. Was he watching as they crossed the street ? Did he recognize them ? Maybe a gang hit not a robbery. In any event the first guy took a slug for sure & probably bled out a few blocks away.
