Funny thing is I had full adult cognizance no differently than I do now at 48. I remember distinctly the feeling of dread that I was in another human body at the beginning of another life. But my life has been wonderful. Can’t wait for the next one. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83276547 Straight out of "A Dog's Porpoise", except I don't think he ever expressed dread when he woke up with new, strange littermates. He just thought "maybe Ethan will be part of this life. I hope so." |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 85116878 United States 01/27/2023 11:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | First clear memories... 3... I clearly remember my mom & dad breaking up, fighting over who was taking me, cops showing up... My mom in a golden-brown Oldsmobile cutlass with white vinyl top, dad in yellow Ford f-150 he called "Fred". I was horribly disfigured around 1.5 yrs by a pan of hot bacon grease. I remember a maroon ambulance with a white stripe and flashing school bus type lights, being pulled from a bathtub of cold water and having strips of a red and white sweater pulled from my skin by a large man in light blue while I was on the driveway on a stretcher. We ran into this man years later at the mall and I recognized him (he was an RN/EMT) my mom knew who he was he asked about and wanted to see my burns. I've never spoken to my parents or family about this. |

[link to nypost.com (secure)] I remember going on a Mississippi stern wheeler and seeing an attraction where Firefighters were putting out a fire in a multi-story building and using the hook-n-ladder to save someone from an upstairs window... My next big memory was the 1964 New York World's Fair. I was 4 years old. I remember the big World Globe and some of the futuristic attractions... |

Quoting: Sonflower17 It seems most people on this forum have very early memories and almost all have their first memory before age five. I wonder if it’s the same out in the world of people NOT on this forum. Like, are we all “suspicious and untrusting” of authority because we have some amazing ability to have seen and remember things from early on? Or are our brains exceptional at remembering things because we are curiosity driven? Hmmm…. Interesting Maybe cuz we're all traumatized to a certain degree...lol I think so. My earliest memories are of horrible spankings. I can't even let myself go there. I'm sorry to hear that. I can sympathize with you having had my fair share back then as well...lol PLATA BITCHEZZZZZZ UPGRADE UNAVAILABLE The Rolling Stones said it best... "What's confusing you is the nature of my game" |

I've never spoken to my parents or family about this. Unfortunately, I think now this conversation has brought forth more memories ... I remember my mom screaming and my dad basically just standing there yelling at her that I would be okay. I remember 2 other female nurses assisting the large man and both of them crying... One was clutching a state police officer and the large man over me yelling at them to keep it together and the nurses pulling some kind of lathe strips of what looked like vinyl glove material off plastic strips and sticking them on me and being stick with needles (I assume Novocaine) all over me and the one nurse holding my legs and the man screaming to hold me still and she was having a very hard time keeping her composure. |

I was riding my big wheel/tricycle around the backyard and my mom came out to tell me I was going to go to school in a few months and her try to explain what that was exactly. I was totally devastated. All I wanted to do was keep riding around my big wheel. I pretty much hated school from the onset because it took me away from what I wanted to do. |

I wanted so badly to see a picture on the wall better so I levitated until I was right in front of it because I didn’t yet know you can’t do that. I was disappointed because the picture was stupid and ugly. |
