Vichy France fought the Allies at Dakar, bombed Gibraltar, opposed some of the Operation Torch landings in North Africa, fought the Allies in Tunisia, fought the landings in Madagascar, fought the British in Syria, allowed German aircraft to use Syria as a base for the German support for Rashid Al-Gaylani’s pro-Nazi uprising in Iraq, sent the Legion des Volontaires Francais to the Eastern Front, manned the SS-Charlemagne Division, who provided some of the last ditch support surrounding Hitler’s bunker, etc.

Many years ago, I knew a World War Two vet who told me that the French, whom we all sentimentally imagine were loving being “liberated,” that they would pour their chamberpots out their windows onto them as the GIs rode in their trucks, “liberating France.”

He also said they were ordered not to patronize restaurants and bars due to the numbers of fatal stabbings and shootings of GIs by French civilians.

Of course, AFTER the war, they were ALL part of La Resistance… Haha. Well, OF COURSE. But truth is, the French LOVE LOVE LOVE Nazis.

On another note, I never understood why some in Mexico make a holiday of Cinco de Mayo, where they beat the French in a battle. Every freaking day of the year, someone beat the French. That’s not that big of an accomplishment.

This is not going to end well for NATO countries, even if they send substantially more weapons - even their decent hardware, to the current geopolitical area known at Ukraine.

Russia isn't going to back down, even if Putin became incapacitated. The likelihood is a hard-liner would take his place, then all bets are off the table.

If there were some quick solution to any of this, don’t you think Putin would have tried it by now? The fact is, Russia simply didn’t anticipate the level of resistance they would meet with. Putin expected it would be like the last 7 times since 1999 he’s invaded a neighbor country, or similar to Crimea.

Russia lost this war back in March 2022. The only question is how much they plan to double down on a bad decision moving forward.

If the US and NATO were to just let Ukraine go, Russia would soon get ready to invade the Baltic States. Then Finland, Sweden, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria would be threatened by the new Russian Iron Curtain. Russia must be defeated and set back 25 years. Ukraine has a good chance of doing that with continued Western support.

Fuckin A. Russia’s “security concerns” will only be met once they’ve reconstituted their empire in full. We didn’t need them invading 7 different nations just since 1999 to figure that out. Fortunately, because of Western support Russia is pretty much done invading for the time being as they figure out how to extricate themselves from annexed territories they don’t even control.
